Aquarium Maintenance
2nd Stage

The aquarium gravel is cleaned during the water change by using a siphoning gravel cleaner or tube depending on grain size. Removing unwanted detritus and waste from the bottom of the aquarium.

The water change is performed during the gravel clean. The percentage of water removed from the aquarium is Identified by looking at current water parameters (from 1st Stage) plus when last water change occurred or at preference of customer. Anything from 5% to 40%.

Water replacement is dependent on the aquarium set-up e.g.,

Tropical Freshwater (Community Aquarium) – Prepared water de-chlorinated and heavy metals removed, which is heated to your livestocks needs.

Tropical Freshwater (Delicate fish i.e. Discus) – Prepared Reverse Osmosis water * re-mineralised, and heated to match to your fishes needs.

African Great Lakes Cichlids (Malawi Cichlids i.e. Mbuna) – Prepared water de-chlorinated and heavy metals removed, also heated and pH adjusted to match the fishes needs. 

Tropical Marine – Prepared Reverse Osmosis water * containing Marine Salt (*
Additional cost for Marine Salt, 35p per 100g*) to give salinity 35ppt. Also, water is heated to match your livestocks needs.

*Reverse Osmosis Water cost £1.50 per gallon

Filter media cleaned where appropriate using the waste water from the above water change.

General pruning, removal of dead or dieing or unwanted leaves, blades or filaments.
